* Allergies

NOTE: Conjunctivitis caused by viruses are highly contagious!

SYMPTOMS – The symptoms of conjunctivitis includes:

* Redness in the white part of the eye

* Thick yellow substance discharged from the eye especially after sleep

* Increased production of tears

* Itchy and burning eyes

Conjunctivitis may have a variety of treatment depending on what the causes are. Conjunctivitis caused by BACTERIA and VIRUSES can be effectively treated with antibiotics in form of eye drops, pills or ointments. Patients are advised to consult a doctor for an effective treatment. However, a diet lacking in VITAMIN B and A predisposes the conjunctiva to dryness and fosters or aggravates Conjunctivitis. Hence, Vitamin A and B are highly recommended for patients of conjunctivitis.
