This is a very serious disease which permanently destroys liver cells; these damaged liver cells become replaced by useless fibrous tissue. As a result,the liver becomes damaged.

Causes and effects of Cirrhosis
Cirrhosis may be caused by excessive drinking of alcohol over a prolonged period; but in most instances,however,the cause is not known.
* It leads to an increased pressure in the portal venous system(which collects blood from the intestine)
* Deterioration of the liver’s detoxifying capabilities
* Fluid retention in the abdomen.

Recommended diet
Increase and reduction in the consumption of certain foods can help to minimize the effects of this deadly disease,cirrhosis. Below is a table showing foods to be increased and those to be eliminated.
